- FOUND: Performed full diagnostic on the steering system. Verified proper power and ground at the rack and pinion connector. Retrieved DTCs C1B00, U0140, U0401, and U0415. Based on testing, the rack and pinion has an internal fault and is not responding correctly, which is causing the steering to lock up. We recommend replacing the rack and pinion assembly. For this repair, we recommend using the dealer OEM rack and pinion to ensure proper programming and system communication.
- STEERING GEAR (COMPLETE) – Remove & Install or Remove & Replace – [Includes: Adjust toe-in on Rack and Pinion type Steering Gears. NOTE: Deduct .4 if alignment is also performed. DOES NOT include transfer of components.]
- ROAD TEST VEHICLE. CHECK ALL SUSPENSION AND STEERING PARTS FOR WEAR. CHECK TIRE PRESSURE AND CONDITION. CHECK RIDING HEIGHT. CHECK ALIGNMENT. ADJUST CASTER, CAMBER, TOE-IN, AND THRUST ANGLE AS NEEDED. CENTER STEERING WHEEL.
